Your state also has $11,000 debt per person. And with a GDP of $350B, it has racked up 75B in debt and continues to spend billions more than it takes in every single year. Contrast that with my state, which has half the population but only 20% of the debt load.

Yes, at the present time, WA state has more debt than Arkansas but that is by no means the only metric when determining the quality of a state's economic life. The growth of the state's GDP and revenue production play equally important roles. And truth be told WA's budget deficit/surplus ratio is far more elastic than AR's because the WA economy is much more robust

And when you look at the rankings of the two states regarding their debt load ratios.........WA ranks 35 out of 50 whereas AR is at 38........only 3 slots better:

If you're doing so well up there, why are you so poor?

We're not poor.......that's the point. That alone should tell you just how fucked up the ideology you worship is. It is holding you to a standard that may make you feel better but in reality your state does not seem to benefit from its 'good boy' accounting nor is it growing at a good clip. Adding insult to injury, the citizens of AR are some of the poorest, unhealthiest and least educated people in this country. Is that worth being 3 slots better than WA state? Why that doesn't give you pause is the million dollar question.
