I don't consider a cruise missile attack a war.
If it stopped there, then you would have a point, but it obviously wouldn't. You're just trying to avoid stating the obvious.
Simpy gets the play:
We already know why Obama is going to Congress. He doesn't want to own this mess despite all of his tough talk and his "red line" rhetoric.

When most of the public is against intervention, it's hard to see them blaming the House for any further atrocities that happen as a result of non-action.

Simplicity is pointing out that the media will likely make it front-page news for the foreseeable future, and that some people will fall for it. But I doubt many will.

I still wonder why Obama even bothers to try and "save face." If he wants to change his mind about the "red line," he should just do it. All this tough talk, especially about the president having the authority to act without Congress, is meaningless without any measurable backbone.
