I'm sorry but Google bought the WHOLE company and that $12.5b included everything, including ALL the Motorola patents, the name, as well as $4 billion in cash that Motorola had. On the other hand Microsoft got no patents (it licensed them but the patents AND more important royalties from Apple, remain with Nokia). It also did NOT get the name. techcrunch.com
