And good ole packard bell still building cacheless machines, except when the cpu has a little onboard cache. I don't know where your friend did his shopping for that 1 meg cache motherboard, but I've seen them with tx chipsets,MMX, ulta dma, ect. ect for about 150!!.. just looked one up for $123. Alot of the improved performance he saw may have come from the TX chipset upgrade.(from VX I assume)
