Very ACCURATE and encompassing statement of fact. Ever since the world famous German Jew hater, Martin Luther, became world famous by successfully opposing the One True Church and successfully giving Protestantism as a viable and significant option to Catholicism, Germany became a country of religion. Hitler, too, was raised in superstition and came to view Jesus as very REAL and as his most revered HERO. Martin Luther had taken the age-old hatred between jews and gentiles and whipped it to a fervour and a common Truth--as True and undeniable as the air you breathe. So Hitler used the German devotion to religion and the obvious (to the German people, as to millions of protestants who revered Luther) danger represented by the Jewish population...to create a movement.
But don't think for one second that this was mere cunning and deceit and ingenious strategy? No. Not so. Hitler (as you said) rearranged Christianity to suit the advanced (as they thought) knowledge of the Nazi Elite. But Hitler always believed in the reality of Jesus. And Jesus always remained his ultimate Heroic Spiritual Figure. No doubt, Hitler saw himself as a sort of modernized Jesus--giving ACTION to the IDEAS of Jesus and thus finishing the job that Jesus had started. Of Couse, it was all superstitious crap--and the Jesus of Hitler's mind was indeed the invention of his own heated thinking--along with the weird thinking of other leading Germans.
When people grab for more land and more power and more of everything, they always find some stupid god to justify their inhuman and reprehensible actions. It was that way in the mythological tales in the bible where the writers repeatedly boasted of their genocides and rapes and sub-human behaviour--which they justified as fulfilling the insane desires of a monstrous war god--and it is that way today. Every day God's little helpers from every corner of the earth, leave their beds to do battle with other little representatives of other gods, to prove at the end of the day that their God is stronger and that His children are more entitled and deserving of Power and Authority over lesser creatures. |
