I'm also concerned about the fact that Obama has been so damned bad, that Hillary or anyone else looks like an attractive alternative. She'll come across as moderate during the campaign, and a lot independents will be sucked in by it.

I think she is the country's worst nightmare, myself, because she's going to be hard to defeat. Of course, it is a couple years away yet, so anything can happen.

Just as a thought experiment, suppose that a week before the last election -- when it looked like about a 50/50 shot, you'd been given a choice to substitute Hillary for Romney. Would you have gone for it?

I would. Because I'd rather have a 100% shot at Hillary than a 50% shot at four more years of Obama. Even though I know Hillary's a liberal nutjob, she's not incompetent. I think people will, in some sense, be attracted to Hillary because she's not Obama. The Left are going to be down with her, so she really doesn't have to pick off that many people to win it.

I hope I am totally wrong about this, but I think it looks like a really tough next election for conservatives and moderates.
