The grief is that you are misreading "God says" as if it is "Scripture says." The point is that we can say "God says" when it is "Scripture says" because it is God who is saying, not because "Scripture says" is God. Scripture is an instance of God speaking -- the difference is significant and that is what I am maintaining.
