The Milton Friedman neo cons have been trying to replace the public school system with a voucher system for private schools for a long time.

They used Katrina to get a foothold in LA.

We liberals think it is a terrible idea to weakens a robust necessary public school system which is essential to a strong fair society.

Private schools are fine, but not at the expense of a good public school system.

It is a difference of philosophy.
