Tsodilo Resources (TSD-V) says it is "most encouraging to observe the fervor" displayed by First Quantum Minerals (FM-T) as it explores Tsodilo's metals and diamond properties in northwestern Botswana. First Quantum, which can earn a 70-per-cent interest in Gcwihaba and other properties, is chasing base metals, precious metals and rare earth elements. It bought its way into the play by purchasing 2.27 million Tsodilo shares at $1.10 and agreeing to spend up to $15-million on exploration. So far, First Quantum's pace has been rather lacking in fervor. It proposed a "major greenfields exploration program" of geophysics and reconnaissance drilling but so far at least, the work is apparently limited to geophysics, and it began nearly a month late.

Meanwhile, Tsodilo continues to tout the diamond potential of its Botswana properties. Latest spiel has Gcwihaba as potentially the source of massive indicator anomalies in northeastern Namibia. Diamond explorers chased the source of those indicators for decades, spending many millions of dollars without success. Undaunted, TSD thinks diamondiferous pipes could lie north of Tsodilo's nearly barren Nxau Nxau pipe cluster and if not, perhaps to the south.
