Kenneth, Paul, I did know about the Russian facility in Syria. Question? If you were Russia, with your having a major port in Syria, would you like the US meddling around with its military might in Syria? No! HELL NO! I would expect the US would take the same position if the situation were reversed. In bargaining, as I have learned even in legal matters, "the pain of not settling must be perceived (real of imaginary) must be greater to settle than not settling." However, in organizing, when a threat is made the moving party MUST follow through with the threatened action. Organizers, just don't make a threat that they are not willing to follow through with!! Sometimes it gets messy !
Since Obama went to the same organizing school in Chicago which I attended, Saul Alinski's, IAF Institute, I am sure he will remember this "rule of organizing." If he does not, I agree with those on this site, it shows weakness. We shall wait and see the response. Right now, Congress has show weakness by not giving Obama what support he has requested. But, Bush set the stage by going into an ill advised War in Iraq, rather than taking revenge just on Afgan for 9-11.
Just it is just those WEAK Republicans and some Democrats!!<gg> I sure would not want these types in a foxhole with me in a time of being threatened. Sometimes you have to play the situation to the final conclusion with psychological and physical PAIN! It is called winning at all cost!!! But, always looking for a negotiated settlement. |
