"We liberals produce the most scientists."

What is a scientist? Is one judged by having a BS degree? Is it judged by having at least an MS degree? Does
working in a government funded research job count?

I would love to know the politics of people who work in the pure sciences that are not on the government dole.

Let you me give you a story Charles. In Chem E School we had our own professors for our chemistry classes. When it came time to take Analytical Chem our prof was on a sabbatical. We had one of the profs from the college of Arts and Sciences. To his credit - he told us that our class of engineering students was the best prepared he had ever had.

And oh yes - the College of Arts and Sciences lived in a big old brick building. We called it the "Big Rock Candy Mountain".

So Mr. koan - what is a scientist and why the hell should we care about what most of them think?
