Woody, I doubt you'll find any trailer that uses steel beams. Much too heavy.

Many use either wood or aluminum. Some are moulded entirely from fiberglass like Casita, Scamp and Bigfoot (which is Canadian, and I believe they're not building now). Most of the rest use combinations of fiberglass skins (or some other "space age material" on the outside, and the interior can be just about anything.

Airstream is a unique construction, in that it uses two layers of aluminum sheathing over aluminum framework to create an airplane like shell.

Most trailers built nowdays, have a pretty short lifespan. Many never see their tenth birthday, due to material cost and durability.

As Mulholland Drive said in another post, "you get what you pay for".
