The crap would go away but so would everybody that voted for that as soon as new elections came about.

When the deficit "first" got out of hand, which I consider during the Reagan Administration, it suddenly became VERY difficult to correct especially since the Republicans suddenly got the idea that taxes should always be cut and never be raised.

There HAS to be a compromise middle ground on this stuff. Democrats can't just give the Unions whatever they want and Republicans have to realize that "revenues" are ALSO part of the equation.

We should be able to cut government spending by 30%, but we also should expect guys like hedge fund managers to pay a higher rate of taxes than MacDonald's workers.
