Ron- I believe that, for tax reasons, they are under an obligation to buy back shares eventually. I also beleive that once they have initiated the plan, there is no turning back or else it screws up the tax benefits under the rules of pooling for acquisitions. Perhaps someone with more tax accounting experience can help me out here and expand on it here.
