Note that even in your selective quote it wasn't as bad as '65 or 35. Just taking that you would see at least three times in 78 years which is once every 26 years.

Including the other data in the post would seem to indicate that its more common than once every 26 year buts lets go with that.

Once every 26 years in that size of area, would indicate that such an "extreme event" would happen dozens of times every year somewhere on the planet.
