The near-collapse of the economy was supposed to be impossible!

Think just maybe legislated interferences in housing finance combined with a fiat currency might have played some part?

Because "free market", self-regulating economics HAD no prescription!

How do you prescribe for evolutionary developments that can not be known a priori without buggering the process?
