That article doesnt even begin to really assess the horrors of even the last 30yrs, there are also huge progress emerging, women elected head of their nations now ,we see emergent change happening secularly. (Interesting that diamonds are used for marriage thats a relatively new tradition, massive fortunes made just off that effecting those regions with changing tradition)

And theres that word again, we do call them emerging markets, and absolutely see religion as a racket from the very beginning. Look at Saudi's getting all that pilgrimage traffic each year, or Jerusalem. Do you think your any closer to God if you go there? Being racket isn't all bad tho, it does entail organization & is centralizing & incorporates a uniformity of predictable behavior that's a positive from an evolutionary survival of the fittest pov.
