So you do accept that climate change (global warming is too narrow) is at least partially caused by CO2 levels rising....?

Your problem then, as I see it, is that you don't appreciate what your calling disaster scenarios.....Hurricane Sandy that did major damage to NJ is being attributed to climate change...... Many other severe weather events are also..... Despite Conservative efforts to discourage conservation and alternative energy sources, we have already made huge gains in reducing fossil fuel consumption and adopting wind and solar energy.....

My advice to you is not to worry about the cataclysmic effects you think you are hearing about.....just allowing that CO2 change is causing additional warming was probably an epiphany for you.

Did You Know? If every American home replaced just one light bulb with a light bulb that's earned the ENERGY STAR, we would save enough energy to light 3 million homes for a year, save about $600 million in annual energy costs, and prevent 9 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions per year, equivalent to those from about 800,000 cars.
I'm not sure how many incandescent bulbs are still in use, but they'll all burn out in a few years... 90% of the lighting in my house is the new CFL types..it has already made a difference in my electricity consumption.
