My take is that the AOL Fool board on AAPL might lean a bit more your way than this one does. There are often discussions about Apple using Merced or even switching over to x86 as soon as possible. There's not a lot of the talk about 60% of the American households not having a computer and Apple getting back to 10% market share. There's even some debate about Apple making pcs in a separate division.
I'm with you on some of it. I don't see any miraculous adoption of Rhapsody by the IS depts. I don't see gains in market share anytime soon. I do think Apple will be doing something with Intel, though it might not happen until Merced is ready for personal computers, which is about 2000, right?
I disagree with you that we are in danger of falling to nine bucks. Not with these kinds of revenues, this brand name, and the cash position. Not to mention the loyal customers, who are the ones that will be keeping the company in business until java, NCs, or Mac/Windows inter-operability comes to pass. Don't forget that keeping these customers happy must be Apple's number one priority right now.
Don't count out convergence until after we see what January brings. I think they are thinking different over there, I really do. I don't think anyone is denying that an NC is in the works or that Rhapsody development isn't continuing apace. The fact that Jobs is now talking up the Mac OS may just be "noise."
