"Duties are not values"

Of course they are values. I told you that people can take on obligations of their own accord. These obligations are not automatic. They may or may not be rational. But they are certainly not Absolute. And, again...whatever one takes on as an obligation of the "duty" type (kill the enemy, bring a shoulder of lamb or grain to the priest, or whatever)..these values will often be completely contrary to others.

You have a duty (self imposed obligation or value) to kill your enemy from a different country or religion. He has a "duty" to kill you. Are these contradictory values ABSOLUTE moral values? Of course not. They are mere opinion, point of view, and preference. Whether or not they are rationally sourced would depend on the intelligence of the persons involved.
