To All:

Because of a number of private e-mails, I have decided to reconsider my self-imposed SI silence. It is apparent that many readers do indeed value the information that is posted here, and even the civil way in which I like it to be presented. It is this civil exchange of ideas and information that has made this thread what it is, even though ANCR has made some of us a bit poorer over the last couple of months. <g>

I would also like to publicly apologize for wishing financial ill on Craig C., Ed S., and Rob T. These guys just got under my skin, and I let my frustration show. As Craig C. correctly pointed out, so far they have been right, and they do deserve credit for that.

As far as any new ANCR information, I don't really have any. The recent Fibre Channel releases, especially by Brocade, just reinforce my opinion that the Fibre Channel market is growing rapidly. Unfortunately, they also reinforce my opinion that Ancor has a lot of work to do on the mind-share question. The Sequent/Brocade, (or is that Brocade/Sequent <g>) release actually showcases what I and others have been saying for a long time. When it comes to performance, Arbitrated Loop is NOT the answer. In fact, I think Class 1 is the real answer, and Brocade doesn't offer that right now. Where does that leave ANCR? Only time will tell.

Craig
