If the MW is set at a reasonable level (i.e., something close to market rates for persons not possessing particular skills) then it sort of appears harmless. That is, it doesn't interfere with markets very much.

The problem, of course, is that there is a persistent pressure to increase it, and now we've got nitwits saying it should be $15 or even higher, which obviously would be damaging to the economy. And if they keep it up long enough, they'll get it -- there will be a confluence of government control that allows them to get the legislation.

So, it is dangerous for it to even exist, even though it may have little if any effect.
