Do you know there was a time when a consensus of top scientists believed the Earth was flat?

Yes, I believe that number was 100%. Like everything, else science has advanced and has learned not to say with 100% certainty.

But like I have said to Bilow and Tim F......who gives a flying fuck........getting pollutants out of the air benefits us all even if its not contributing to global warming. Why is that not enough for you all to do something about it?

In fact, during the 1600s and 1700s tomatoes in America were considered to be inedible, because there was a consensus view they were poison (during this time, they were used only as decorative plants). No one would eat a tomato because it meant certain death. Not until some fool, in 1820, publicly consumed a large quantity of tomatoes did people start to open their minds to the notion that the consensus view just might be wrong.

Well that's just a lot of BS. Its true that tomatoes are the only plant in the nightshade family that produces non poisonous fruit but the Aztecs were eating tomatoes in 500 BC and the Spanish had brought plants back with them by the 1500s. So who exactly wasn't eating tomatoes in the 1600s in America? Southerners?

Did I mention I have been growing tomatoes since I was 6 and love the fruit?

Only idiots fall for this "Most scientists believe ______________". Most scientists thought Relativity was nonsense. Most scientists once thought heavier objects fell faster than lighter objects.

Over time, the consensus view of scientists have been disproved time and again, often after centuries of idiotic nonsense.

When you hear someone say, "Lots of scientists believe ..." that should immediately convey you're not talking about science anymore, you're talking about consensus

Do you believe in creationism, Dave?
