Yes, Ed, Derek Jeter is from Kalamazoo! Paul Harvey and Tom Snyder started their careers here, too. I found the NXTL story very interesting to say the least. Here was basically a taxi-cab dispatch company that had suddenly won the right to use their radio spectrum (which was adjacent to the cellular spectum) for cellular. They lobbied successfully, citing dropped calls and other customer complaints. The cellular bands, especially in big cities like New York, were overcrowded and very inefficient. "Enhanced" SMR would eventually be a beautiful radio system that would help people communicate in a new, enhanced way. And that's why this forum is light years more interesting than the Airtouch board (a company I invested in, later, with less exposure). Thank you all for such a nice, warm welcome.
