Glenn, ASND GX 550 Core ATM Switch provides the capacity of a core switch with the first to market OC48/STM-16 capability, something CSCO doesn't have yet. With MCIC & WCOM and UUNET, this is very good news. BTW, although I'm a firm believer that ASND is better off standing alone, I'd be less shocked if NT bought ASND, a 1 for 2 swap ain't too bad.
