Bernie, When you realize that BelSouth indeed paid over 2 Billion dollars just for the Sao Paulo area in Brazil, and that they paid over 150 dollars per POP as opposed to NXTL's price of I think 4.7 dollars per POP for the whole nation of Brazil (and doesn't Rio have even more people than Sao Paulo?), the numbers look pretty good. Remember BelSouth paid this much for the licenses only. I spoke with Paul Blalock of Nextel today and he told me that Brazil, Argentina, Mexico will all be "turned on" in the middle of next year. And Arnie, to answer, your question, NXTL has won all rights for using its technology in Brazil (i.e. there are no restrictions). If the Sao Paola license alone was valued at over 2 Billion, one has to wonder what the U.S.license would be valued at by a major player. Time will tell.
