Carl: Good summary. I perhaps sounded more cynical than I am. I actually agree with what you say regarding the long term. I am just too much an empiricist to ignore these valuations and what they have implied in the past. The fact that I jumped into the market in 1969, along with the rest of the market mania participants, also must color my thinking. Jack
