For a fraction of what Obamcare is costing, we could have gotten private insurance companies to offer very high deductible plans (10k, 12k, whatever) to cover only catastrophic problems that would have met the needs of most people. I would gladly trade in my 2500 deductible plan for something priced appropriately that only picks up expenses for major problems.

The fact that there were perfectly good alternatives that didn't wreck the existing system or lay thousands of pages of new regulations on the country, and that they were ignored, is the one thing that makes me believe Reid & Obama really wanted to destroy the existing system.
