I wouldn't consider Markman as "old watch" or as dead weight. He did some really cool things that have helped Novell a lot. Things like the web server, NetWare/IP enhancements, and the DNS and DHCP servers. These things were critical, and he delivered. His going to General Magic is really somewhat of a loss.

Course, turning them around is a much bigger challenge than turning around Novell, so I can't blame him for taking the CEO position. I wish him luck.
