The information that makes up one table that I found fully supports the argument that NVX/Abbott have one fantastic story to tell about SAFETY.
" TABLE 5. Incidence of Moderate to Severe Reactions Within 48 to 72 Hours of Administration of Acellular and Whole Cell Pertussis Vaccines at 2, 4, and 6 Months of Age."
The Acellular Pertussis vaccines that are out there now are better than the whole cell pertussis vaccines but SAFETY, THE ADVERSE EVENTS HAVEN'T GONE AWAY.
The study results that make up the table are stated in terms of "Incidences per 100,000 doses" but when we are talking many millions of doses in the US each year the number of severe incidences cannot be ignored. By severe they refer to HHE, (hypotonic-hyporesponsive episode)," persistent, inconsolable crying for 3 or more hours, temperature higher than 40 degrees C, and seizures within 48 hours of immunization."
The table includes Connaught's Tripedia; Lederle's Acel~imune, Chiron/Biocine, and SKB.
If you do go to the Table just add NVX to the bottom of the list and put in a row of all ZEROS, 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .
There is another Table that presents the "Pertussis Inactivation Process and Antigen Content, etc. of the various vaccines. ALL of the competitors use FORMALDEHYDE in their Pertussis toxoid inactivation process. NVX uses Hydrogen peroxide.
All the competitors use multiple antigens. NVX uses only a highly purified pertussis toxoid.
This is why NVX will have the best DTaP vaccine on the market. :-}. |
