Alan,

Now I know what I want for Christmas. I want a press release from some big OEM with Ancor as the second word. Example, "With Ancor,..." <g>

<<"By aggressively moving beyond Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop to a much more robust, switched fabric topology, we are illustrating a commitment to the data center market. Our competitors coming from the midrange just don't have that focus.">>

This is an interesting quote from Sequent. Clearly they see performance benefits to a switched fabric topology over Arbitrated Loop. If Sequent sees this, can other companies be far behind?

<<"We are seeing many OEMs and systems integrators following suit with implementations of a Fibre Channel switched fabric. Sequent is to be commended for being first out of the gate to offer this comprehensive solution to its customers that demand performance and high availability.">>

As Walt pointed out, this is actually a good sign for Ancor. The fact that "many OEMs and system integrators" are following suit with implementations of a Fibre Channel switched fabric should bode well for Ancor. Also of interest to me is the use of the term "systems integrators". Groupe Bull was described to me as an OEM, and I believe Geoquest would be classified as a systems integrator. I'm curious who the other players might be in the systems integrator category.

Another topic which I have been thinking about of late is the lower end. The success of Gadzoox and Vixel makes me think that there would be a market for a Fibre Channel hub, and the success of Brocade makes me wonder if Ancor should market a Class 2/3 only switch to go head to head with SilkWorm.
