That approach can lead to 2 outcomes - it could either lead to isolation of the Tea Party or it could lead to a more united more conservative GOP with a protracted shutdown. The current situation in DC is analogous to the Shia -Sunni divide in the MidEast with each side demonizing the other. I think we are better than that and I think most Americans outside DC are more tolerant of opposing views and look at the current DC situation as a travesty of politics.
