China Waste-to-Energy Market to Double by 2018 – Study

Sep. 26, 2013

Allan Gerlat | Waste Age

China’s waste-to-energy (WTE) market should grow at a compound annual growth rate of 18 percent through the next five years, according to a new report.

The country will be adding WTE plants and double its market share by the end of 2018, according to a news release from the publisher of the report, the Burnaby, British Columbia-based TechSci Research.

The report, “China Waste-to-Energy Plants Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2018,” states that thermal WTE plants will continue to be the dominant segment. Biological WTE plant volume also will be significant because it does not lead to environmentally hazardous emissions.

China will focus on increasing renewable energy capacity, particularly energy from waste. The country’s generation of municipal solid waste as a feedstock continues to grow.

The report evaluates the future growth potential of China’s WTE plant and provides information on market structure.
