TideGilder, if I were to advise O'bama, I would require the Republican's to submit their who package of proposal at one time and calculate the package cost for all the reductions in the budget. Then, I would require them to answer what programs would they sacrifice in order to balance the budget. In bargaining there is an exchange of the total package items at once rather than submitting items one item at a time.

The negotiator always make a calculation where their base of support stands. I like O'bama and the Democrat's would not except one item at a time, but require the opposition party to submit their total package or pay the consequences from the crisis.

Once the restructured budget of the opposition is called out you would really see the rationale of the opposition surface.
