Nothing shows more contempt for the "democratic process" than what Reid and Obama did in enacting Obamacare. A democratic process cannot involve bribery, changing the rules on the fly, violating said democracy's constitution, and other such corrupt processes.
Aside from that, I would think both Friedman and you would be aware that the US is a republic, not a democracy, and as such the power is held by its people, as individuals, not in the state as a whole.
When well more than half of the people in the country don't want and never wanted legislation, they can call upon their elected representatives to take all measures to defeat that legislation, and the representatives should (but sometimes don't) oblige.
You see, most of the people in the US don't want fascism, which is where we've headed since Barack Obama was elected. Although, it is fair to say, most do not comprehend what fascism is. |
