I didn't know that about Cobra. That was my first job and I was in between getting my green card. But yes the hiring company was good to me. It was not a raise but just a lumpsum one time payment. But I am grateful for that human treatment by an American business more so because that was our first born and hence a first time experience that was pleasant to an aspiring immigrant who was then wondering if I was doing the right thing immigrating to the US.
