So what do you tell the young who don't want huge cuts out of their pay to pay the wealthy elderly is- "Wait, you'll get it back when you're old." Does that work? What do your kids say? You said it yourself- providing a "floor" doesn't mean giving handouts to the guy in the penthouse. It means giving granny enough to keep her off cat food, and allow her to keep the lights on.
