The problem that you detest for some reason is that Whites do not commit crimes at nearly same rate of Blacks.
John, I detest all crime. And yes, Blacks have a higher rate (by their racial component) of criminal activity. However, if you look at the totality of crime statistics (FBI), crimes committed by Whites are approximately twice the number of those committed by Blacks.
So, as Americans should we be concerned with the totality of crime? Or, should we focus only on crime committed by Blacks and other non-Whites?
Based on what one sees on this board, again I must say that the overwhelming focus is on Blacks, almost to the exclusion of Whites. The latest example of this is the mentally ill Black woman who evaded Police and Secret Service personnel in Washington, D.C. - putting the lives of many people in harms way.
Even while the news was still breaking, many here "had it all figured out." About the only information that was available at the time was that she (maybe) was Black and that she (maybe) had a one year old child in the car. However, with that small sliver of (possibly credible) information, many on this board felt that they had the credentials to impute her current social status, her financial status, her marital status, her thoughts, her intentions - and on, and on.
If the above were an isolated case, I would be not be so concerned. However I will again say that "Black" crimes that hit the web and are "promoted" (i.e. Drudge et al) will always find their way (to be inaccurately analyzed and editorialized) on this board, nearly to the exclusion of White crimes.
John, it may surprise you to know that I am White. Yes, it is true. I am also a Republican. When I read about crime (particularly violent crimes) it makes me feel ill. Frankly I could care less about the race, color or creed of the perpetrator(s). My concern is what we as a nation can do to mitigate and eventually eliminate this horrendous scourge on our country. Since Vietnam, we have been wasting trillions upon trillions of dollars on wars that we have no hope of winning. Imagine what a great nation we would be if we had looked inward and spent only a fraction of that money to ensure peace and prosperity within our own borders.
