1) Progressives stand with people, not privilege;

Claptrap, but dumb people snap that bait up time and again.
That's how the people were subjugated in Russia and China in the last century. Believing in empty slogans. .
How'd they feel when their liberators were driving in closed "diplomatic lanes" on their tired little highways while they negotiated the gridlock and car sized potholes on their way from their cracker boxes to the factories?
Privilege didn't go away it simply shifted from the ones who dragged society along the road to prosperity to those who stole it and established military states to keep the people from complaining.

2) Progressives believe in the Common Good and a government that offers a hand up;

This is insulting on many levels. Common good? Good is a squishy word. Can't be clearly defined. It calls for our betters to let us little fish know what's best for us. "It is my decision that the oil companies are making obscene profits and that they are making these profits on the backs of the People's blood and sweat and tears! Therefore it is for the Common Good that I call for this corrupt industry to be moved within the gentle arms of the federal government so that the people may reap the benefits of this necessary public service" said Harry Reed the new Minister of Energy.

The common good is best served by people being free to exercise their free will and accomplish what they will. Where in human history have people prospered more than in 19th and 20th century free societies? Compare those with Socialist and Communist societies in the same era. Unprecedented uplift of all people's standards of living versus mass murder in every Common Good promoting society.

3) Progressives hold that all people are equal in the eyes of God and under the law;

Tell that to the policeman who scored higher on his sergeant's exam but was passed over because his skin wasn't the right color. Tell that to the politicians who have exempted themselves from the health care law they just passed. The fact of the matter is that people aren't all equal. Some people would like to sit on a bucket all day under a tree and look out at the waves. Some others would like to figure out how to send a rocket to the moon. The challenge is to provide an environment where the people who want to sit on buckets and the people who want to go to the moon are able to pursue those ends regardless of their origins.

People aren't equal.

4) Progressives stand for universal human rights and cooperative global security

I don't know what to say about this statement. Cooperative Global Security didn't work so well for Neville Chamberlain or the Polish leaders throughout history. Evil must be confronted constantly or it wins.

It's telling how Podesta manages to include "climate" in the title of his book. It serves to scoop up those neo-hippies at Berkeley and worked so well for Al Gore.
