I tried the IDT phone the day the CEO from IDT was on CNBC. It wasn't too bad but the delay was definitely noticable and a real problem. You call them (IDT) and they make the call for you. Tell them where you are and where your calling and they do all the dialing. The demo allowed for a free 60 second call and they stay on the the line and monitor your call. Call 1-800-call IDT.

I tried to call Evan (ELK) when I used it but he wasn't at his desk. (Probably at the coffee machine again!) The one problem I noticed is in the delay. This is a real problem when you are using an automated attendant. Hit #1 for this and #2 for that, etc. The delay makes it very difficult since the key entered isn't recognized right away. If you weren't aware of the delay you may think the system didn't recognize your entry and you would hit the phone pad key again. Now you have the same key entered in the buffer twice and it will begin jumping around menus, as soon as it begins to recognize the keys entered, possibly loosing the connection.

The delay is a BIG problem and you must be aware of it when your making entries on the keypad. Try it out and call an automated attendant like Schwab or anyone else where you'll need to enter alot of codes to complete the transaction. It's a nightmare!

If FTEL can control the delay as well as the quality of the voice they will be a path to our door!

I'll be in the city Friday with my family to see the tree, St. Patricks Cathedral, etc. You know - the typical Christmas stuff. I'm hoping the kids won't make a big deal about stopping at the show while were there and checking out the FTEL booth. I'll tell the kids it's all part of the Christmas tradition. You know - the Christmas tree and Ice Skating at Rockefeller Center, a Hansom cab ride in the park, the Fall Internet Show at Jacob Javitts Center, a tour of Saint Patrick's Cathedral, etc. (See how I snuck that one in there - I hope they don't notice!) Maybe Frank Peters will be there - I can tell them he's Santa Claus!
