Excuse me for butting in, but doesn't the end of winter require debt destruction?

By the end of the 1930's, consumers had reduced their debt to more reasonable levels by default and repayment. Then the war economy put money in consumers' pockets while rationing restricted their spending. By the end of the war, consumers had repaired their "balance sheets" and had money to spend. Isn't that the kind of setup that "spring" requires?

The government took on debt during that time, but beginning from much lower levels than today. And much of the 1930's government spending gave us valuable infrastructure still in use today while providing work which allowed so many to feed and clothe themselves.
