Jump to first matched term CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Northern States Power Company (NSP) of Minneapolis, MN has awarded Compuware (Nasdaq: CPWR) and Alydaar Software Corporation (NASDAQ: ALYD) a Year 2000 compliance contract. The contract calls for Compuware to project manage, provide automated testing tools and partner with Alydaar to remediate about 16 million lines of code. The Year 2000 problem arises from computer programs written in the 1970's and 1980's that read only the last two digits in a year. The 00 reading for 2000 would cause an error in some programs or could be interpreted as 1900. The world-wide cost to repair the Year 2000 problem is estimated to be in excess of $600 billion. NSP's Year 2000 Project Director Dale Leatherman, stated "The Compuware and Alydaar team will complement NSP's Year 2000 needs by bringing together what we need most; the highest quality automated testing products and services and expert code conversion. NSP looks forward to working with these two firms to help meet our Year 2000 requirements." "We are pleased NSP has selected the team of Compuware and Alydaar to provide a Year 2000 solution. The strong capabilities of our joint remediation approach combined with Compuware's testing tools provide a thorough and efficient means for Year 2000 compliance.", said Steve Fagan, Compuware's Senior Vice President of Professional Services. Robert Gruder, Alydaar's CEO, said: "I believe the fix-it, test-it combination of Alydaar and Compuware brings NSP the premier Year 2000 solution available today. NSP has demonstrated significant vision in determining the necessary steps to successfully complete its Year 2000 effort."
