I take an economist's approach to those types of things. In a free country, we don't ban things. But if the taxpayer must pay for the consequences of unhealthy foods and substances, then the taxpayer has the right to charge high taxes on those foods and substances, the proceeds of which will be used to subsidize the increased costs of health care resulting from the consumption of those foods and substances. I call it the fat tax. All sodas, processed foods, tobacco, alcohol, etc. should be taxed at a higher rate than foods that are known to be healthy. The key is making sure the tax proceeds go into funding health care and not into some stupid wasteful other use by Congress.
