Simplicity,
That is, unless you believe that the role of the president of a representative republic includes the power to redistribute citizen wealth, in which case your views on that subject are diametrically opposed to those of the Founders of the American Republic.
Liberals don't want to be constrained by the views of the Founding Fathers. Remember that half of the Founding Fathers owned slaves, which means if we stayed faithful to their views, slavery would still be alive today.

Instead, liberals believe that the Constitution is a "living, breathing document," subject to the whims of the people, its elected leaders, and especially the appointed justices of the Supreme Court. Just as society evolves, the interpretation of the Constitution needs to evolve and keep up with the times.

Only problem is that every attempt in modern history to redistribute wealth has ended in abject failure. But try telling a liberal that. He or she will claim that "liberalism has never really been tried."
