Paul, >>>Are you contending that Intel doesn't accept baht?<<<

I'm not an expert in this area (as if you didn't know), but I would think that Intel customers are, for the most part, large multinational companies and have access to dollar denominated bank accounts.

I don't think Intel sells directly to the Maria Bahtaroma's or Krazy Eddy's at the local Super Stall.

Oracle's problems may only be in part due to what is happening in Asia. Larry Ellison may be to the DBMS world what Jerry Sanders is to the semiconductor world - so it may be difficult to tell what is really going on at Oracle. You will see that this came as a surprise to most analysts covering Oracle.

DBMS markets may have crashed some time ago (witness price actions in Sybase and Informix), plus there is always the inevitable delays in new product releases. Added to all this is the y2k problem. Some companies may delay new applications expenditure until they get a fix on some of the legacy stuff.

But, I'm sure Larry Ellison will be back stronger than ever the next time (cycle) around.

Mary
