Tim Oliver, Bob Haustin, et al,
Why don't you guys start your own PTEC thread? You bored everyone of us to death with the comparison between PTEC and SYSF.
If PTEC is such a great company and you truly believe in it, you should have the courage to start a standalone thread discussing nothing but Phoenix Tech. Also, don't go to the one that says "PTEC is superior to SystemSoft". If I start a thread called "Netscape is superior to Microsoft", which company do you think is the underdog? This thread is a SystemSoft thread and you should discuss nothing but SystemSoft. You can say negative things about SystemSoft here (if you play short) or positive things (if you play long) but it has to do with SystemSoft only. Don't say that Phoenix Tech is a viable competitor to SystemSoft and so you need to discuss it here, it doesn't even come close. A viable competitor to SystemSoft is company such as Remedy. Phoenix Tech is in the BIOS business, SystemSoft is in the help desk business. Phoenix Tech just recently enters the help desk business by signing up Cybermedia because they just figure out that they miss the market. They could be in that market years ago if they didn't screw up in their market strategy.
You guys are acting as if SystemSoft is stealing investors from Phoenix Tech. To the contrary, if for some reasons the investors bail out of SystemSoft, I don't think they are going to flock over to PTEC anyway.
The reason PTEC stock price is low is because PTEC is in the wrong business. To the investors, the BIOS business is a cut throat business with low profit margin (50 cents per copy). Right now, the help desk sector is a hot sector. Any company in that sector has their stock price go sky high, SystemSoft and Remedy included. But the investors are no dummy. If SystemSoft does not perform as they claim, the investors will bail out immediately. But right now, SystemSoft has all the ingredients to succeed: they form alliance with the right kind of companies, their earnings have consistently grown, they are in the right type of business at the right time. Phoenix Tech is not a bad technological company except that their marketing needs to be improved. But if they can enter the help desk business successfully, I am sure that they will co-survive with SystemSoft, Remedy, and other companies in that business and their stock price will also skyrocket.
Again, I urge all the PTEC fans to start your own thread and spare us from all the PTEC vs SYSF rhetoric. Your consideration is greatly appreciated.
