Where does the bank go from here? Don't be too quick to dismiss this bank. Did I mention they paid off TARP and 3rd party debts last qtr? These are no small accomplishments ...and with those gone it makes them very attractive for larger banks looking to buy assets, customers and expand the footprint.

Of course they should push for a sale or merger...I'm sure that's precisely what management is working on and that's why I own it. Its no secret Banks under $1B in assets can hardly afford the cost of Dodd-Frank & Basel III compliance....so consolidation is the way to go.

This bank could easily fetch BV which today would be > a double from where Mr. Market has it priced. The story here doesn't end with a few temporary weeds on the balance sheet...those are temporary and nearly all banks this size have them right now. Its a low interest rate environment...not much tailwind.

The story here is buy and hold at more than a 50% discount to BV ...and wait for the deal to come to you.
