| there are differences in how things would have to happen today now that there is a large population coast to coast.
But the first thing I would do is write the constitution even more in a way that would not require a law degree to understand it. It's pretty clear now, but lawyers have a knack for being able to spin the meaning of words such that the low information, low intelligence voters focus on the lawyer's interpretation. A classic example is the 2nd amendment "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"

The only part of the 2nd amendment that means anything is "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". It is not dependent on the first phrase. The first phrase is provided simply to send the message that guns are not just to hunt or for home protection, they are for protection against a tyrannical government. However, you get the gun control freaks getting in pissing matches about the meaning of "militia" and "well regulated" and all that crap. But the fact is, it doesn't matter what those words mean. So, an example, my 2nd amendment would be: "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".

I would then change the makeup of the supreme court such that six members were chosen from legal professions. The other six would be forbidden from having any legal background whatsoever. And any supreme court decision must have a 3/4 majority instead of a simple majority.

Realistically though, this country is too far gone to ever recover. Once you promise free shit, you can't take it away until there is a total collapse. The only hope at this point is to divide the country in two. Let you guys run your socialist wonderland while we suffer in our free market hell. It would be an odd looking boundary, but it could be done such that both the left and right get territory on both coasts. Some states may become islands within the other's territory, but they'll just have to work that out. Don't worry though, you get all the good stuff. You get NYC, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Hell, you even get to keep seattle and Boston.

As for the supreme court approval, I think you may be ignoring the majority opinion which said that it was a tax. And a tax must originate where? And did ACA originate there?....noooooooooo. So in giving the decision, the supremes also provided the way to unravel the ACA. We are going to bring Dr. Gosnell in to do a late term abortion on the ACA. It might hurt a little, but we wouldn't want this country to suffer because it made one little mistake in its enthusiasm to elect a black president with a decidedly exotic name.
