ERs are overused, that is true. But as for the cost saving effects of more accessible medical care and preventive care etc., I agree with Bill. It is wonderful for the individual, but eventually, in aggregate, it becomes more expensive. Having a larger older population cannot possibly save any healthcare dollars. Eventually, even very healthy people get sick. And taking care of them is expensive - under any system. Especially ours.
