Tellabs Customer Service

A next-generation access platform, the CABLESPAN system is an ideal vehicle for
the integrated delivery of interactive voice, data, video and information services. The
CABLESPAN system's advanced architecture ensures unparalleled flexibility.
Multiple network topologies - including point-to-point, star/hub, drop-and-insert, and
tree-and-branch - are supported for maximum network flexibility. The system is also designed to
accommodate a mixture of analog/digital carrier (radio/copper), VSAT, fiber, and coax or HFC
transmission media.
The CABLESPAN system incorporates the attributes and functionality of next-generation
digital loop carrier (NGDLC) systems, fiber-optic
multiplexers, fiber-to-the-curb (FTTC)/fiber-in-the-loop
(FITL) systems, and intelligent channel bank (ICB)
products. The system accommodates a diverse range of
network services, both switched and non-switched, to
meet the growing demands of residential and business
customers. POTS/Centrex, ISDN, private or leased lines,
analog/digital data, T1/E1, fractional T1/E1, and LAN
interconnection are just some of the services that can be
economically provisioned by using the CABLESPAN
system.
Designed as a global networking solution, the CABLESPAN system meets the needs of service
providers worldwide. A modular, building-block approach accommodates future wireless or
wireline narrowband and wideband services.
In addition, flexible con-figuration management and incremental system growth allow service
providers to cost-effectively address the geographical distribution and population densities of
subscribers served, thus minimizing start-up costs and permitting incremental investment keyed to
customer demand and revenue growth. Modular growth, flexibility and a migration path that
ensures compatibility with evolving network standards are hallmarks of the CABLESPAN system.
Simply stated, the CABLESPAN 2300 system represents one of the most versatile access
solutions available for the transport and delivery of profit-enhancing voice, data, video and
information services.

The CABLESPAN 2300 system is a NGDLC system that accommodates service
deployment needs ranging from basic telephony to advanced network services. A high-density,
modular design and advanced architecture permit the CABLESPAN system to meet the service
providers' need for growth and rapid service introduction. The system can economically serve from
as few as six to more than 600 subscribers.
To provide the ultimate flexibility when serving a variety of network topologies, the
CABLESPAN system is designed to mix and match various media types. This includes providing
advanced telecommunication services over copper, radio and VSAT networks as well as a clear
and seamless migration path to fiber in the future. This flexibility yields an added benefit: Service
providers need no longer choose a loop distribution system based solely on currently available
transmission media. In addition, existing fiber-rich networks can be augmented with a platform that
economically integrates delivery of voice, data, video and information services over a common
broadband network infrastructure. Service providers can use the CABLESPAN platform to
deliver a wide range of both switched and non-switched services--ranging from POTS to ISDN to
T1 and E1.

Unparalleled network design flexibility:

Advanced design provides NGDLC, FITL/FTTC, ICB
and digital cross-connect system (DCS) functionality
for unparalleled application flexibility and overall
system performance.
Common, integrated loop distribution platform
offers economical delivery of basic and advanced
network services over copper, radio, VSAT or fiber
transmission media.

Multiple-services delivery system
supports a full range of POTS,
special services, analog/digital data,
T1/E1 and other network services
with a migration plan toward future
integrated wireline and wireless
services.
Streamlined OAM&P functions
result in lower operating costs
and improved network
efficiency.
Optional common-control
redundancy and extensive
performance monitoring increase
overall system reliability.

The system provides NGDLC, FITL and FTTC
capabilities to meet both business and residential
service demands. It can also be installed in a variety
of configurations and network
topologies--point-to-point, star, drop-and-insert, or
any combination--to match the service distribution
and subscriber density requirements of the network.
Service providers, including newly emerging
alternate access carriers, can leverage the flexibility
of the CABLESPAN system for the cost-effective
deployment of DSO-based services in a variety of
network configurations. The system is compatible

larger (34K)

with a wide range of analog and direct digital (TR-008 [mode I and II], TR-303, V2 and
V5.1/5.2) local-exchange interface standards.
The HDT--located at the central office or point of presence (POP)--provides direct interfaces
to the PSTN and the transport network for switched and private-line services. Narrowband and
wideband services are delivered to RSTs located within the loop distribution network. Integral
digital loop carrier functionality allows deployment of services such as POTS for single-family
residences and shared-tenant applications as well as the delivery of voice and data services to
various business locations, including campuses, office parks, business centers and high-rise/office
buildings. In addition to equipment-room and central-office installation, the CABLESPAN
equipment can be field-deployed for outside plant applications in pedestals or street cabinets, as
required.
In virtually all its applications, the CABLESPAN system provides exceptional service and
application support, maximum network flexibility, and unmatched price/performance. That makes
the CABLESPAN system the clear choice for service providers around the world.
TO ALL HAVE A GOOD CHRISTMAS.
